Engage

 \  in-ˈgāj ,  en- \  verb.  To command your audience's interest and attention and keep them thinking about your ideas.

How can I engage my audience?

Won't my strong content engage them?

It's a good start. Strong content is integral.  And if you’re coming to me, you should already feel pretty strong on this element.

But your content is merely the foundation. Studies have shown that without strong vocal and physical communication, your content is far less likely to have a lasting impact on your audience.

Ok...so what exactly will we work on together?

To engage your audience and get them to take action, first you need you to be able to get and hold their attention.  As an actor for more than 20 years, I’ve learned that there are two primary ways to get and hold the attention of an audience: strong use of vocal variety and physicality.  Together, we'll look at your communication (speaking and listening) with these two tenets in mind.

How can you help me communicate my content?

Vocal Variety

Voice can be broken down into two key elements:

breath + tone = voice

All too frequently we try to create voice without strong breath support.  As a result, clients often come to me with a speaking voice that is:

* too fast
*wavering/quivering
* limited in pitch variation
*falling off at ends of sentences
*tense
*tired

You too? I can help.

Physicality

Your body language is equally important, whether you're communicating virtually or in person.  Good posture is integral to the healthy production of voice.  And you lose credibility when your appearance is out of alignment with the message you are trying to convey.  When it comes to physicality, we’ll work on your:

*facial expressions
*posture
*purposeful hand gestures
*use of space
*eye contact

These elements can seem 'easy' – but while they may be easy to notice, they are not always simple to utilize.  In other words, while these elements are not complex, they still require quite a bit of effort and practice.
